One way of having a secondary display for your PC is to use an HDTV as a secondary monitor. To know more, scroll down to step 1.
Steps
-
Get an HDMI cable. You can purchase HDMI cables from online sources like eBay or Amazon.
- Make sure the cable are long enough; around 15 feet should be good.
-
Plug the HDMI cable into your computer’s video card.
At the back of a desktop computer, or in the sides of a laptop, look
for the HDMI port. For desktops, it should be where the monitor is
plugged in horizontally.
- If your desktop’s motherboard supports HDMI output, it may be
located around the upper area to the rear of your unit (this only
applies if you do not have a dedicated video card installed and are
using integrated graphics on your motherboard).
-
Plug the HDMI cable into the TV. The TV should have two HDMI ports at the back. Plug the HDMI cable into the first port, denoted by the number 1.
-
Turn on both the TV and the computer.
-
Switch the channel on the TV to the HDMI. The TV should then act as a secondary screen for your PC.
